Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday dear Daddy. Happy Birthday to you! Today is our dear daddy's 33rd birthday. We love him so very much. He takes us to the park, reads us good night stories, colors with us, takes off work to make it to all my special events at school, and he works super super hard to keep us happy and healthy. He's pretty special. We celebrated his birthday today with a really yummy carrot cake, which I frosted all by myself. Holler! Unfortunately some of the magic was deleted when Mommy could only find a number 2 candle... life goes on right? Happy Birthday Daddy... we love you so much!

Party like a preschooler...

Today we celebrated my birthday at preschool. It was really really really fun... I think Mommy and Daddy like it too. There was a birthday banner on one of the tables for my classmates to decorate for me. It's hanging above my bed now in my bedroom... I heart it. :)
We do a very sweet little birthday ceremony. First the birthday boy or girl gets to hold a model of the earth. They walk around the large model of the sun the same number of times that they are old. So for example... I got to revolve around the sun 4 times, because in real live I've been alive long enough to have really revolved around the sun 4 times... cute right? And then 4 candles are lit, and I got to blow them out... both of these things were done while singing a very special birthday song... Mommy was quite impressed.Once our birthday song is sung, we all load onto the train... tickets and all... in order to get our special treat. Mommy, Daddy, and Emma Grace brought chocolate chip muffins for my friends and me.We got to eat them out on the playground... it was really special and meant a lot to me and my family. Have we mentioned how much we absolutely love our preschool? :)Look how well Emma Grace blends in... oh the sadness.Tomorrow is the big day... I officially turn 4!

Introducing Our Newest Family Member...

This is the newest member of our family... Kitty Kat.
You may remember Reese's puppy friend Hasher... well, I've become quite jealous of Hasher and constantly attempt to puppy nap him. Mommy and Daddy have been on the lookout for Hasher's sister Pasher, but they've been unsuccessful in their search. It wasn't until last night after visiting the country store in Cracker Barrel, that they found Kitty Kat... from the exact same line of annoyingly loud mobile pets! Can you believe it?! Kitty Kat fits right in, and she just loves to play with Hasher. All is again right with the world. :)

Mommy Scissorhands...

Emma Grace here. Mommy is getting sick and tired of my hair shenanigans...Yes folks, that is what she wakes up to EVERY SINGLE MORNING. It's fun. I scream, I cry, you name it... I do it when it comes time for Mommy to brush/style my hair for the day. It was just getting to be too much. After cutting my sister's hair (6 inches people!), she began threatening me... "If you don't come over here right now so I can brush your hair, I'm going to cut it. Do you want me to cut your hair?" "Yes." Well then... here we go.So fresh and so clean. It can still create some carazy bedhead, but it's super cute and sassy... and not so mulletish, which is always a plus.

Life

It seems like we have so much going on and nothing going on all at the same time these days! We're knee deep in home projects, 2 weeks behind in preschool, and busy just living. I won't lie, it's been kind of nice just running around the house in our undies (this is Reese by the way!), playing playdoh, and having picnic lunches in the living room. Our days are filled with random shenanigans, and our nights are filled with swimming lessons and dance class. The weather is getting cooler, so hopefully we'll get back into the swing of preschool shortly, but until then we'll just play outside. :)

So far we've dug up our potatoes.
Discovered the random vines growing near our deck and outside toys were birdhouse gourds.Just enough little pumpkins made it through the summer and into the fall without rotting.And that we are now officially into Fall. The pumpkin picture was taken just last week... this wagon photo... today... brrrrrr.We hope to get to the pumpkin patch in the next couple of weeks, and my big 4th birthday party is right around the corner. Time sure does fly!

A is for Apple

Rachel here. Last week's letter was "a"... for everything apple. :) We began by making apple prints... red... yellow... and green.Then it was homemade applesauce. We found a super easy recipe on Mr. Rodger's website (yes the neighborhood one).
Peel, core, chunk apples, and put in a pot.Then add 1/4 cup sugar and a little bit of cinnamon.Bring to boil, and then cover and simmer for 20 min.Blend and cool... and voila!The girls ended up having it for lunch along with apple slices, Apple Jacks, and an apple cereal bar. Reminds me of Bubba Gump. ;)

This is Reese's favorite "work" of all time. Letter printed on copy paper, put on top of towel, then she pokes the letter/shape/her name with a toothpick. I think it's far more hi tech at school, but we do what we can here at home. :)Here she's creating her letters with foam shapes. I found the templates at Tired, Need Sleep and then transferred them onto foam sheets and cut them out. Reese LOVED them.Ahhhh... RED... or in Emma Grace's world... pink, yellow, blue... in that order. "Emma Grace, what color is this?" "Pink, yellow, blue." Doesn't matter what the color is... she doesn't discriminate. :) It's been an adventure to say the least.Random work.Leftover work from last week. I keep all of their work in a "tower" with drawers. If they get bored, we pull out an activity. Unfinished activities get put back in the drawer until it gets finished. Emma Grace will probably be working on "m" activities until she's 4. ;)This week... a weather chart/calendar makeover, starting chores, and the letter "t".
