No Fear Emma Grace

Emma Grace here! Yesterday I met the Easter bunny and didn't even cry. :) Mommy and Daddy said next year will be different, but until then... we're good friends.

The Reester bunny is coming to town...

Last weekend Mommy and Daddy tried to take Emma Grace and I to see the Easter bunny at our local mall. Our local mall is anything but sufficient; can you believe the Easter bunny wasn't even there? I know... but don't worry... pick up your jaw... we found him! He was hanging out at the "little less than mediocre" mall in Roanoke. :)

1st day of Spring

We celebrated the first day of Spring by gallivanting around the neighborhood. It began with a quaint little ride in our wagon.

And ended with an awesome trip to the park across the street from our house. Emma Grace not only got to swing for the first time in a real swing, but she also took a whirl on the slide! It was so fun, and we're anxious for Summer to arrive because I have a feeling we'll be spending most of our days just like this!

9 months

Can y'all read that sign? That's right! Today I'm 9 months old! Can you believe it? I had my ped. appt. this morning and I weighed in at 18 lbs 7 oz (50%), and I'm a whopping 28.5 inches "tall" (75%).
Here's what I'm about these days.

Milestones: I'mthisclosetoCRAWLING. I'm trying so hard Mommy could blow. I can get on all fours and rock rock rock my little heart out. I get my toes dug into the carpet and can fling myself forward like a catapult, but that's where it ends. Sometimes my feet get far enough under my butt that I can almost sit myself up. Mommy gasps each time I do that because SHE knows I'm so close to doing something big, but of course I don't know that yet. I can also just about pull myself up to my knees. Mommy's fairly certain it's all going to happen at once and then her life as she knows it will be over. She already has to chase my sister around to put her underpants back on her after doing the deed. I'm babbling like a crazy woman. Mommy and Daddy noticed I don't babble nearly as much as Reese did, so they'll be limiting the paci use to just naps and bedtime in hopes that I'll have more to say. Still no sippy cup use... argh. But to end on a high... I can clap like it's going out of style.

I've adjusted great to Daylight Savings and am still sleeping like a champ. I did, however, wake up ready to party at 3:40 this morning. I was just excited it was my "birthday." Now though instead of hitting the hay at 6-630ish, Mommy doesn't put me down until about 7-730. It works out nicely especially since Daddy is home in the evenings now to help her out. I'm working on weaning a nap or 2. Most days I get 3 naps... about 2ish hours each, but occasionally I'll only take 2.
Doc. M was super proud of me about my pincher grab that I use to hold my puffs and yogurt melts. Mommy still has to help me eat them, but what does she expect... I'm a baby. I've officially stopped nursing! Mommy planned on continuing up until last night, but I DENIED HER Monday evening. She seemed a bit sad, but I figure life goes on right? I'm getting 3 solids per day and four 1/2 and 1/2 6oz bottles (1/2 breast milk and 1/2 formula). The doc wants Mommy to start giving me meat... ugh... well Mommy says ugh anyway. She makes about 98% of my food... as she did for my sister... apparently though pureed meat made her want to vomit, so she'll be giving me some Earth's Best mixes when it comes to that. Until I can connect the food to my own mouth, we'll keep it slow on getting into too many finger foods.
My temperament is super sweet although very impatient. If I want food, I wanted it 10 minutes ago. If Mommy is out of my sight I get super antsy and usually scream my head off. Good times are had by all during these fits. I've even been known to yell at my Mommy if she isn't paying attention to me. I love to play... especially with things I can look at myself in. :)
We'll make the move to my big girl carseat upon Mommy's return from California mid April. I can't wait because we have a lot of traveling coming our way! More of that to come. Peace out my faithful followers. ;)

Family Tradition

We headed off to Macado's again this year for St. Patty's Day. Mommy and Daddy have a thing for green beer, and the best place in town to get it is Macado's. Our pictures are nothing to write home about, but they are our memories nonetheless! Mommy packed my dinner for me this go 'round. We're big into sticking to the budget and buying me a dinner that I may or may not eat just doesn't fit within the parameters. :) On the menu: a peanut butter and honey sandwich that Mommy cookie cuttered (Lord only knows if that's an actual word!) little shamrocks from, applesauce that Mommy dyed green, a banana, a chocolate chip cookie with a green shamrock drawn on top a la... you guessed it... Mommy, and finally green marshmallows with green m&ms mixed in! :)

Here's the sister Emma G with the Mommy Rachel E. :)

Until next year!

Happy GREEN Day!

Wow... do I seriously have to dress like this every year? I don't understand this holiday, but frankly it's a titch redonkulous.
Happy Green Day to all and to all a big green beer! :)

Reflections

Now that I'm a bit more mobile, I'm madly in love with my butterfly mat that Santa brought for me. My favorite part... the mirror.

In just a few short year I'll be singing "I bet you think this blog is about you... don't you... DON'T YOU?!"

Hollah back youngin'

Happy Monday! Aren't I just the cutest little thug you ever did see?

Agee-kong

Rachel here. While driving around town Saturday Reese declared to the world that she wanted an ice cream cone... aka agee-kong. She's never had an ice cream cone, so Bryan and I just kind of looked at each other like "seriously?" She's never been one for sweets. In fact she's on this huge kick where she loves to bake brownies, cakes, and cookies but not eat them... this leaves a huge undertaking for Bryan and I... especially with our newest resolution of slimming our waist lines. So we stopped at McDonalds and all got one, which is intriguing because we had actually just left the VT baseball game before it even started because it was too cold. Anywhoodles... she ate that ice cream cone like it was going out of style and had a good bit of it on her neck and chest when we got home, but it was sweet nonetheless. :)

Hamsters

So Nanna Mary (Pop's mom) got Emma Grace and I Zhu Zhu pets for Christmas. Mommy thought they were absolutely ridiculous, and Uncle Aaron thought we should put them on Ebay... that was until Mommy busted all 4 of them open. :) After playing with them for 3.5 seconds Mommy fell in love and I got my long luscious blonde curls stuck in the wheels. Oy. They were promptly hidden in our garage until I was a bit older and knew the rules of play. Well, because Mommy and Daddy are cleaning things out of the house and organizing, I stumbled upon them this past weekend. I immediately wanted to play with them, and Mommy immediately wanted to vomit. Untangling strands of my hair from dime sized wheels was not how she wanted to spend her weekend. However, Mommy decided to let me have a field day with them. Of course this was after a lengthy conversation on how NOT TO touch the wheels with my little fingers and after putting my hair in the tightest bun known to man. All in all Mommy is super glad she let me play with them again because I'm nothing short of adorable to them.

Without further ado... I'd like to introduce you to my hamsters. This is "Princess."
And here is the ever loyal "Beaver." I named them myself (Rachel here... SERIOUSLY... hysterical!)

I like to let them roam free in the livingroom and sing lullabies to them when it's time for a nap. (I witnessed her singing "say good night... say good night..." in the squeakiest little lullaby voice!!!!)
